In this work, various tools for model validation and diagnostics in count time series are discussed. Our proposals include residual analysis, resampling method, assessment of the predictive performance methods and information criteria. An application of the integer-valued autoregressive process with the dependent counting series are investigated using Hantavirus data set and illustrate the best performance of the proposed model among some competitive INAR(1) models via the residual analysis and model adequacy
