Background: Aluminum is the most abundant metal on earth's crust, which its extra absorption in body through various sources can cause toxicity in humans. Aluminum causes diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson due to toxicity on nerve fibers. Aluminum can also causes oxidative stress thereby the levels of the myeloperoxidase are increased. The aim of this study is to evaluate the antioxidant effect of Rosedamascena extract to prevent oxidative stress induced by aluminum. For this purpose, myeloperoxidase activity was evaluated Material method: In this study, 36 rats were grouped as control, gavage, treatment with aluminum, treatment with extract, treatment with aluminum and extract at concentrations 500 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg. After the treatment period, blood samples were taken from all of the rats and isolated plasmawas used to measure the myeloperoxidase activity. Data were analysed using ANOVA test in SPSS software Result: Myeloperoxidase activity in the groups of control, gavage, treatment with aluminum, treatment with extract, treatment with aluminum and extract at concentrations 500 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg were 25.28±2.19, 24.76±2.10, 49.47±5.12, 28.05±4.44, 28.76±3.83 and 31.53±3.32, respectively. Statistical analysis using ANOVA test showed a significant difference between the group treated with aluminum and other groups (p<0.001). Based on these results we can realized the role of Rose damascena extract in protection against injuries caused by aluminum. Conclusion:Since this enzyme plays important role in the onset and progression of acute and chronic inflammatorydiseases such as cardiovascular disease, the use of this plant can be useful in the prevention of these diseases
