Introduction & Objectives: Applications of Wi-Fi devices are increasing continuously in today's world. The rapid increase of Wi-Fi-based technologies has raised concerns about its safety due to the suspected reproductive health hazards associated with continuous exposure. However, very few studies have investigated the sensitivity of the reproductive system in users continuously exposed to electromagnetic radiation from Wi-Fi devices. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the glutathione level in testicular tissue of rats continuously exposed to electromagnetic radiation from Wi-Fi devices. Materials & Methods: Twelve male rat were divided in two groups of control and exposed group. Study group was exposed to radiation from Wi-Fi equipment for 10 weak. After completing the exposure period, the animals were anaesthetized and testicular tissue was achieved. The testis tissue from each animal was homogenized by phosphate buffered saline (0.1M, pH 7.4). Results: Analysis of testicular tissue indicated that statistically significant increase were exist in the glutathione level of testicular tissue of exposed rats compared with control group (4.53±1.26 mM/g tissue Vs 2.43±0.78 mM/ g tissue, P=0.044). Conclusion: The increase in reduced glutathione reservoir might be due to the oxidative stress responses of testicular tissue exposed to electromagnetic radiation from Wi-Fi devices. In conclusion, these results indicate that exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi equipment may induce oxidative stress in male reproductive system.
