Title A Possible Effect of Electromagnetic Radiation from Wi-Fi equipment on rat reproductive system
Type Presentation
Keywords Wi-Fi equipment, electromagnetic radiation, reproductive system
Abstract The recent sharp increase in wireless access points used in household or industrial applications has raised safety concerns about the potential vulnerability of people to radiofrequency fields associated with Wi-Fi equipment, due to their substantial lifetime exposure. There are raising concern about possible systemic or local health effects from such exposure. To our knowledge, very few studies, if any, have investigated the sensitivity of the reproductive system in users substantially exposed to radiation from Wi-Fi equipment. For this purpose, 12 male rat were divided in two groups of control and exposed to radiation from Wi-Fi equipment for two months. After completing the exposure period, the animals were anaesthetized and testis was achieved. Analysis of testis indicated that statistically significant differences were exist in the quality of sperm and testis between two study groups (p< 0.05). Consistent with the effect of electromagnetic radiation on various organs, an increase in the damage to reproductive system were observed two months following exposure to Wi-Fi radiation. In conclusion, these results indicate that exposed to radiation from Wi-Fi equipment exerts a negative impact on male reproductive system. So, the effort to avoid electromagnetic radiation exposure and techniques to protect or relieve electromagnetic radiation are required to preserve reproductive potential.
