Title A finite volume element method for finding positive solutions of semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problems

Abstract The Finite Volume Element (FVE) methods for finding positive solutions for the elliptic problems of the type −∆u = λf(x)g(u) for x ∈ Ω, with Dirichlet boundary condition are discussed and analyzed in this paper. By using Matlab, we visualize the range of λ in which this problem achieves a numerical solution, and also discussed the behavior of the branch of this solution.
