Abstract In this paper, we discuss the stochastic bone metastasis model considering the interaction mechanisms between cancer cells and basic bone cells. Various treatments are used to deal with formation of bone metastases. We present an optimal control approach to analyze radiotherapy that has a cell-killing effect. We also present a numerical simulation based on the forward-backward sweep method (FBSM) to analyze the effectiveness of this treatment.
