Abstract

In this work decorated chitosan nanoparticles/Polyamide6 (CSNPs/PA6) membrane was prepared by combination of electrospinning and electrospraying methods. Firstly, PA6 nanofbers web was produced by electrospinning and then electrospraying method was performed to produce decorated CSNPs on the PA6 nanoweb. The results revealed that CSNPs were well distributed on the PA6 surface and well bonded to the fbers. The AFM studies showed that roughness of the membrane increased because of the presence of nanoparticles. Contact angle measurements showed the membrane surface hydrophilicity increases due to the presence of CSNPs. The performance of CSNPs/PA6 membrane was investigated in adsorption of Acid Fuchsin dye (AF) from aqueous solution. The CSNPs/PA6 membrane adsorption capacity of 1679 mg/g was obtained at 298 K. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used for the modeling and optimization of AF dye removal process and effect of various factors were studied. The results of optimization showed that maximum removal effciency of AF dye can be obtained at AF dye initial concentration of 375 mg/L, adsorbent dosage of 0.01 g, temperature of 30 ⁰C and contact time of 70 min. Different error functions were used in ftting of adsorption isotherms and kinetic models.
