Eryngium caucasicum (Apiaceae) is a perennial herbaceous plant with about one meter height, an endemic species that has been distributed in the northern areas of Iran (1). The plant leaves are generally utilized in medicine and food industries in Iran (2). Eryngium caucasicum has various medicinal properties including enforcing generative power, diuretic, paregoric and appetizer (3). In this investigation the essential oils of the wild and cultivated of E. caucasicum were isolated and compared.
