The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on satisfaction with life, marital adjustment, and positive feelings about the spouse. Sample population included 285 women referring to Farhangian medical and counseling center and Shamim counseling clinic of Torbat Heydarieh, Iran in spring and summer of 2016 (with the background of complaints of communication problems in the family). In total, 50 subjects were randomly selected and divided into two groups of test and control. Study tools included Spanier dyadic adjustment scale, positive feelings questionnaire (PFQ) and Diener’s satisfaction with life scale (for all subjects as pretest). Meth-od of experiment was in the form of pretest-post test with control group. Intervention was carried out for the test group by holding 10 60-minute sessions for four weeks. Data analysis was performed using statistical analysis of covariance. Results were indicative of the effectiveness of ACT on increased marital adjustment, satisfaction with life and positive feeling about the spouse (all at level of significance of P<0.001). Therefore, it is suggested that application of this method be taught to family and couple therapists and family counselors.
