Abstract

In this dissertation, we present single and double acceptance sampling plans for time truncated life testing where the lifetime of the objects is distribured accord- ing to the Nadarajah-Haghighi and exponentiated moment exponential distribu- tions. A time truncated single acceptance sampling plan is developed when the lifetime follows the Nadarajah-Haghighi and exponentiated moment exponential distributions. We obtain the minimum sample size necessary to ensure a certain mean lifetime for various selected acceptance numbers, consumer’s confidence levels and values of the ratio of the experimental time to the specified mean life- time. The operating characteristic function and the associated producer’s risks are also studied. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate some results. A double acceptance sampling plan is presented for the Nadarajah-Haghighi distri- bution when the lifetime is truncated. The minimum sample sizes necessary to ensure a certain mean lifetime for selected acceptance numbers and consumer’s confidence levels are obtained. The operating characteristic function and the as- sociated producer’s risks are studied. We also analyze the minimum ratios of the mean life to the specified life. Real data and simulated examples are provided to illustrate the results of the proposed plan.
