Abstract

In A. Chapygin's novel "Razin Stepan" one can feel the tradition of the legendization of personality. The signs of realism in A. Chapygin's novel are a combination of chronicle descriptiveness with a plot that generalizes the typical in the concrete, synthesizing the historical perspective and social conditionality of the action with living characters. The novel reflected the writer's desire to understand the essence of historical events and characters, to show reality from different angles, in a complex struggle of contradictions. The situation in Gilan in the 17th century. and Gilyans are depicted as a product of a certain historical era, its customs. The image of Gilyan is gradually recreated in the novel. Reader's impressions are accumulated gradually, they are made up of images, episodes, and details scattered in the text, as it were, but in fact thought out, subordinate to each other. The characters of the Gilians are created with the help of various means - subtext, remarks, irony, allegory, allusion, etc. A special role is played by the phraseology and vocabulary of Farsi (including swear words), which are widely introduced into the speech of the characters. In the narrator's speech, they contribute to the reconstruction of the national color, revealing the characters of the Gilans. The same function is performed by exoticisms - words that characterize the peculiarities of the life of the inhabitants of Northern Iran.
