This paper considers the Type I hybrid censoring and investigates the optimal value for the sample size based on two criteria, namely the Bayes risk function of the point estimator for the scale parameter in the exponential distribution and the cost of designing the experiment. In the Bayesian estimation, the general entropy loss function is considered. The optimal sample size is determined such that the estimated Bayes risk and the cost of the experiment do not exceed two pre-fixed values. To evaluate the obtained results, some numerical calculations have been performed. Finally, the conclusion of the article is presented.
