Abstract

Turbidity reduction is not only important for the production of clear water, but by removing the microorganisms attached to these particles, many pathogens are destroyed. In water and wastewater treatment industries, coagulation is one of the most widely used methods to remove suspended and colloidal particles, and various coagulants have been produced and used for this purpose, including mineral coagulants and coagulants. Polymer pointed out. These types of coagulants have been used on a large scale due to their high production and easy operation, but due to the high cost of importing these materials and the potential problems caused by the use of these coagulants on human health, many efforts have been made to replace them. These materials are made with natural materials. The main purpose of this research was to study the performance of lemon peel and carrot peel as a coagulant in reducing the natural turbidity of the Tigris River in Iraq. In order to optimize and investigate various factors on the coagulation process, mixing time of solution preparation, settling time, different concentrations of solvent, the dosage used of each complexing agent in reducing turbidity was investigated, as well as the changes in physic-chemical parameters such as electrical conductivity. and hardness during turbidity reduction with different coagulant dosages and solvent concentrations were recorded.
