Mn-dopedZnSnanoparticles(NPs)werepreparedwithdopantsatvariousconcentrations using afacile,simpleandinexpensivewetchemicalmethodatroomtemperature.The physicochemicalpropertiesofNPswerecharacterizedusingX-raydiffraction(XRD), transmission electronmicroscopy(TEM),ultraviolet-visibleabsorptionspectroscopy (UV–vis) andphotoluminescence(PL).XRDanalysisconfirmedformationofZnSwith zinc blendestructureandaveragecrystallitesizeofabout2nm.TEManalysisrevealed formationofhyperfineNPswithrathergooduniformity.Theroomtemperaturephoto- luminescence(PL)spectrumofZnS:Mn2+ exhibitedanorange-redemissionaround 600nm.ThemaximumPLintensitywasobservedfor7.5%MndopedZnS.Thephoto- catalyticperformanceofZnS:Mn2+ wassuccessfullydemonstratedfordegradationof three differentmodeldyes(i.e.RhodimineB(Rh.B),BromocresolGreen(BCG)and Bromochlorophenol Blue(BCB)).Theresultsrevealedthatnotonlywastherearemarkable difference inphotocatalyticperformanceofMndopedZnSforallthreedifferentdyesat different dopantconcentrationsbutalsophotocatalyticactivitywasdecreasedbyMn doping.
