Abstract

One of the most often used alloys is aluminum alloy. In many industries because of its lightness, good durability and strong resistance to corrosion. Such as the alloy (Al-17%Si) used in this research. which are used in the production of automobile and plane components and applications that require a lightweight and highly efficient metal. Here the need arose to develop some mechanical properties of this alloy by adding some elements and using a sophisticated casting method that helps us do that. Where elements (Ce and Cu) were added to this alloy in different proportions and preparing samples by Sequeez casting technique and examining the impact of adding these elements on the alloy's mechanical properties and the effect of the casting technique on it. As it was found through the tests conducted on the samples Which XRD, FESEM, Hardness test, tensile test and wear resistance and fatigue test .Where these tests showed the mechanical properties improved as it increased the hardness Where the samples recorded that contain (Ce) hardness approached from (78.6HB) While the sample free of additives was recorded (60.7HB), tensile resistance There was also an increase in U.T.S (164 N/mm2) compared to the sample that did not contain additives (138 N/mm2) and wear resistance. Increased. the porosity and the gaps decreased, as well as we obtained a rather small grain size, and as a result, this alloy's strength was improved. We conclude from this that the addition of these elements in different proportions, as will be explained in this study, leads to the improvement of many mechanical properties.
