Abstract Inspired by the current requirements for green chemistry and sustainable chemistry, the development of heterogeneous catalysts in organic reactions has become a major area of research. This is due to the potential advantages of these materials over homogeneous systems. These advantages include simplified recovery, reusability, easy product isolation and incorporation in continuous reactors and microreactors. The major limitation associated with heterogeneous catalysts is their lower catalytic activity and selectivity.
