Amides and polyamides have been found as a key component of many biologically active and pharmaceutically useful compounds. In particular, symmetrical and unsymmetrical N,N0-alkylidene bis-amides and their derivatives are key structural sub-units for the con- struction of peptido-mimetic frameworks.
