Title Effcient synthesis of sulfones and sulfoxides from sulfdes by cobalt-based Schiff complex supported on nanocellulose as catalyst and Oxone as the terminal oxidant
Type JournalPaper
Keywords Sulfde Salen Crown ether Nanocellulose Oxone Sulfones Sulfoxides
Abstract Due to the unbelievable growth of Schiff base catalysts utilization in chemical syntheses, the importance of their support on solid substrates, especially biocompatible ones, has increased. In this study, stabilized cobalt-based Schiff catalysts were frst immobilized on nanocellulose via synthesis. Then, they were characterized by FT-IR, H NMR, EDX, and SEM. Among these developed catalysts containing cobalt-based bis (imino) pyridine, the catalyst with a crown ether substitute showed superior catalytic activity for oxidation of sulfdes to the corresponding r sulfones and sulfoxides. It is worth noting that these catalysts can be recycled and reused several times without reducing their effciency.
