The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation from the leaves and stems of Descurainia sophia L. were analysed by GC and GC-MS, separately. The main components of the leave and stem oils were relatively similar and included hexahydrofarnesyl acetone, (E)-ocimen, phytol, methyl linolenate, α-cedrol, (Z)-caryophyllene and β-ionone. The essential oils consisted mainly of sesquiterpenoids (39.65 % for leaves and 39.46 % for stems).
