A stereoselective, highly efficient, and ecofriendly method for bromodecarboxylation of a, b-unsaturated aromatic acids, using ethylenebis(N-methylimidazolium) ditribromide as an effective and reusable reagent in acetonitrile–water, affords b-aryl vinyl bromides in good to excellent yields.
