The present study was conducted to examine the chemical composition of essential oil of Adonis wolgensis aerial parts from north of Iran. The oil was obtained by hydrodistillation and was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The major constituents of the essential oil tested were palmitic acid (32.97 %), methyl linolenate (11.89 %) and phytol (10.32 %). This oil was assayed for measurement of antibacterial activity, but did not exhibit any comparable antibacterial activity.
