چکیده

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the new state, called the Russian Federation, endeavored to utilize different tolls to enhance its position in international system. Accordingly, despite modern Russia’s constrained resources, its foreign policy has long operated on a global scale. And one key area of this worldwide remit is increasingly West Asia, where military agreements and cooperation are again driving the diplomatic outreach. Thus, the past several years saw several new initiatives designed to upgrade Russia’s military presence in various West Asian countries. With regard to Moscow's military undertakings and activities, main question of the research is how does military diplomacy help Russia to advance its national interests in West Asia? The hypothesis is that Russia through some initiatives such as arm sale, information cooperation, implementing tactical military operations, enhancing the military personnel, conducting common military exercises with regional countries, sending armament aids, military specialists and also consultants has tried long-term entry into and influence over governments across the West Asia. Indeed, Moscow exploits the leverage provided by military diplomacy in order to build close ties with regional states. The pattern strongly suggests that the ultimate aim for Moscow is to obtain foreign policy goals in the region and also present itself as an influential actor in international arena. Russia’s West Asia policy is not primarily guided by the quest for raw materials or foreign markets but national security strategy and global prestigious. The research method is analytical explanatory and data will be collected through internet and library resources.
