Abstract

The spread of malnutrition is one of the main challenges in the world. In other words, reducing food security can harm people. For this reason, the increase income of people and access to sufficient food are main ways to eliminate malnutrition. Agriculture is one of the most important ways to provide food and scientists are trying to find a way to increase the yield of agricultural production. The use of chemical agricultural fertilizers can increase production, but it may cause many damages to the environment. On the other hand, with the advancement of nanotechnology, the agricultural fertilizer industry has expanded and nanofertilizers have been introduced to the market. Nano fertilizers increase the speed of plant growth and productivity because the constituent elements of nano fertilizers are very small and are available to the plant more quickly. For this purpose, a study was conducted to investigate the effect of nano and chemical fertilizers on mung bean plant. In this experiment, nano fertilizer consisting of zinc, iron, nitrogen and manganese elements was prepared and its effect was investigated with chemical fertilizers of iron, zinc, nitrogen and manganese which were prepared separately. Various growth parameters such as germination percentage, root length, shoot length, root number were measured. In addition, the amount of plant pigments, phenol and flavonoid, sugar and total protein as well as antioxidant properties were measured. It was found that iron, manganese and zinc chemical fertilizers showed better effects compared to nano fertilizer in growth parameters. Also, nano fertilizer increased the synthesis of all secondary metabolites except protein. It should also be noted that all chemical and nano fertilizer treatments reduced the amount of sugar compared to the control, but nano fertilizer increased the amount of total sugar more compared to other treatments.
