Abstract

"Chootashi", one of the most noble arts forested area north of Iran - especially Mazandaran and Gilan - that is how to build, have many similarity to the art of engraving on wood and its products often include everyday household tools (such as plates and other cooking equipment) and sometimes some elements of rural architecture (such as railings, columns, headers, etc.) and other tools for life. What to study the effects catch the eye, In addition to the simple and unpretentious in construction and making, a variety of original, primitive mind that the influence of the natural environment and the daily lives of people in northern Iran simple in form and function, mood, and the products are carving. The research - which is descriptive way - tries to be Chootashi art motifs in their classification in terms of diversity and usage as well as the influence of the environment and culture in the region Based on field studies examined works. Result of studies show that the designs used in the art Chootashi north of Iran derived from animals - particularly birds, livestock and poultry -, mountains, trees and the sea - from the environment and people's living culture - in the form of broken lines and curves, geometric and volumetric forms for dishes or tools.
