Abstract

Pre-eclampsia is a common inherited pregnancy complication with various genetic and environmental causes that is characterized by high blood pressure and proteinuria. Extensive research has focused on the role of genetic factors in the occurrence of this disease, many of which show that gene polymorphisms play role in the diagnosis of preeclampsia. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the rs12129861 polymorphism and the risk of preeclampsia. In this case-control study, the genotypes of 121 pregnant women with preeclampsia and 74 healthy pregnant women were investigated for this polymorphism by PCR-RFLP method. According to the observed results, it can be said that the dominant inheritance pattern in rs12129861 polymorphism has a significant relationship with the disease and increases the risk of preeclampsia (OR: 2.29, p-value: 0.041)
