Abstract

A simple, rapid, and sensitive Air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction (AALLME) procedure combined with High-performance liquid chromatography was used to extraction and determination of lorazepam and alprazolam in human plasma samples. Benzodiazepines (BZDs) are a large group of drugs with a broad range of therapeutic effects, used as hypnotics, anxiolytics, muscle relaxants, sleep disorders, and anticonvulsants [1, 2]. Various experimental parameters that could affect the extraction efficiencies were optimized. The optimized extraction condition were pH = 7.4, chloroform volume as extraction solvent = 300 μl, number of extraction = 12 cycle, with 10% w/v salt concentration. Under the optimum condition, extraction recoveries of 95.49% and 92.19% were obtained for lorazepam and alprazolam, respectively. The validated method showed a satisfactory performance and can be served as a simple and sensitive method with high extraction recoveries for monitoring of the drug in the plasma samples.
