A facile and efficient approach for the synthesis of 2-benzoyl-5-(1H-indol-3-yl)-2'-oxo-2H-spiro[furan-3,3'-indoline]-4-carbonitrile derivatives was developed via a one-pot, three-component reaction of isatins with 3-cyanoacetyl indole and N-phenacylpyridinium bromide in the presence of triethylamine. the reaction was carried out in ethanol under reflux conditions, and the products were obtained in good to moderate yields with a simple work-up procedure.
