چکیده

Background: Following the technological development in the recent years, electromagnetic emissions from man-made devices are steadily increasing. Wi-Fi are the most widely device used by human in home place and various workplaces, which is proposed to have serious health effects to human. Some recent studies reported that exposure to Wi-Fi electromagnetic radiation may induced oxidative stress and decreased the levels of antioxidants in various tissue. Therefore, much researches are necessary to determine health consequences of exposure to such electromagnetic radiation Methods: In order to investigate its deleterious effects on testis tissue, total antioxidant capacity were measured after 10 weeks exposure to Wi-Fi device. For this purpose, 12 male Wistar Albino rats divided in two group. The rats testes were removed at the end of the study. Tissue homogenate were prepared and used to assay total antioxidant capacity by FRAP assay. Result: Mean total antioxidant capacity in the testes of Wi-Fi exposed rat were significantly lower than control rat (1644.6±302.49 nmol/g tissue vs. 2208.3±181.33 nmol/g tissue, P = 0.028). Conclusion: Based on our results, continuous exposure to Wi-Fi device caused oxidative damage in testis by decreasing total antioxidant capacity. We also suggest that continuous exposure to Wi-Fi device may induce tissue oxidative stress by increasing ROS production which is cause of male infertility.
