Abstract

aggression and violence occur at all levels of sport, from professional and amateur adult competitions to collegiate and youth leagues. It affects athletes of all ages and in a variety of different sports. Sports provide an insightful window onto the complexity of aggressive and violent behavior. Violence and aggression have been always considered as inseparable parts of human life. Iran is one of the countries in which, this phenomenon should be considered as a serious problem. This paper is about violent and unethical behaviors in football especially in recent years and solutions for preventing the recurrence of these behaviors in the future. This research is mainly aimed at identifying the causes and effects of these problems, evaluating the current status of violence in the Iranian football, and proposing solutions for this phenomenon. Obviously, most people go to watch a football match for entertainment, enjoying the match, and watching the players’ skills. Violence or threat can have excessively destructive effects on sport matches. The effective factors in players’ violent behaviors include their poor skills, their behavior before the referees, spectators, and other players. However, this research explains and discusses the causes of these behaviors. The findings suggest that the most common actions among fans include crowding, throwing objects, participating in property damage, and physical violence. These incidents can be caused by wrong decision, injustice, or federation management style. The federation should modify its management policies and relieve the spectators’ violence; also, it should create cooperation and organize some resources for resolving or minimizing the problems.
